IAC Calls For Excellence.gov Nominations

Nominations for Fifth Annual eGovernment Best Practices Award Program Are Open Through December 17, 2004

The Industry Advisory Council (IAC) eGovernment Shared Interest Group (SIG) today announced a call for nominations for its fifth annual Excellence.Gov Awards program.

Building on the theme of results-oriented electronic government, this years awards recognize best practices in the outreach initiatives and adoption of federal eGovernment implementations. Successful adoption denotes programs that demonstrate high customer satisfaction, strong market segment penetration, broad stakeholder acceptance, and improved program utilization over time. Emphasis will be placed on implemented projects with demonstrable use of their programs by the intended audiences.

The Excellence.Gov Awards will culminate in an awards ceremony and reception in February 2005. A panel of judges composed of executives from both government and industry will consider the following evaluation criteria:

-- Programs impact on the agencys ability to deliver on its mission

-- Effective adoption strategy demonstrated by measurable results

-- Incorporation of industry and government best practices related to adoption strategy

-- Evidence of excellent satisfaction among stakeholders, participants, and end-users.

The Presidents Management Agenda emphasizes the importance of ensuring results from federal government programs, said IAC eGov SIG Chair Tricia Iveson, director of eGovernment solutions, SAIC. Tangible performance gains via the electronic delivery of services to stakeholders signify major improvements in governments value to taxpayers and citizens. This years Excellence.Gov Awards will focus on the most promising stakeholder outreach practices that ensure the full impact and benefits of electronic government.

The mission of IAC is to foster improved communication and understanding between government and industry. The IAC eGov SIG is devoted to identifying, exploring, and addressing issues that promote the implementation of eGovernment programs that will benefit society. The eGov SIG provides a forum for government and industry to identify and candidly discuss eGovernment and to facilitate the realization of the concepts promise.
