CDW Government, Inc. (CDW-G), a provider of Information
Technology (IT) solutions to governments and educators, announced
that it has added five new companies to its Small Business Partner
Consortium and exercised the one-year contract options of nine
current consortium members.
The new members were selected through a competitive process that
started in April with CDW-G’s annual request for proposals
soliciting additional small businesses to partner with CDW-G on
Federal business opportunities. The consortium, launched in 2003,
was created to help small businesses compete more effectively for
IT contracts with Federal agencies because they have the backing of
CDW-G’s extensive e-commerce, service and distribution
capabilities.
Since 2003, many Federal Defense and civilian agencies – from
the U.S. Air Force to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention – have taken advantage of the consortium to
purchase technology products and services.
“The Small Business Partner Consortium is a win for both
small businesses and our agency customers,” said Chris
Rother, group vice president of sales for CDW-G. “Our small
business partners expand their contracting opportunities in the
Federal marketplace with access to leading technology products from
more than 1,000 manufacturers, while Federal agencies purchase
technology through small companies to meet their small business
contracting goals.”
The Small Business Act requires that 23 percent of prime contract
dollars go to small businesses. In fiscal year 2005, more than a
quarter of all Federal prime contracting dollars were awarded to
small businesses, according to the Small Business Administration
(SBA). Small businesses did $79.6 billion in business with the
Federal government as prime contractors that year, according to SBA
data.
The Small Business Partner Consortium members are included in
numerous Federal small business categories, and some members occupy
more than one category. Overall, the consortium includes eight 8(a)
companies, five HUBZone companies, one Alaskan Native-owned
company, 10 small disadvantaged companies, three service-disabled
veteran-owned companies, and two woman-owned companies.
Dynanet Corporation, an 8(a), small disadvantaged business that
holds the 8(a) STARS contract, joined the Small Business Partner
Consortium this year. Dynanet has more than 10 years of experience
serving Federal and state and local government agencies.
“With CDW-G, we have a partner that shares our mission of
providing superior IT solutions and is committed to helping us
expand our work with Federal agencies,” said Sean Peay,
president of Dynanet Corporation. “Through the Small Business
Partner Consortium, we will be able to draw upon CDW-G’s
array of enterprise technology and superior supply chain management
to provide complete IT solutions to our customers.”
