For a FREE consultation call 800-662-5021. --- Bird-X Click HERE for more information. | | NEWS Virginia's 9-1-1 Legislation Enhances Safety The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International applauded the Virginia General Assembly's passage of legislation to require providers of Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) to provide enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) location information to 9-1-1 call centers. The legislation, the first change in Virginia State Code driven by the Virginia Chapter of APCO, passed in the Senate on February 15 and in the House on February 19 and is currently awaiting the signature of the Governor.  DC Saves $30 Million on Electricity Contract The District of Columbia Government's Office of Contracting and Procurement (OCP) and the District Department of the Environment, Energy Division, recently conducted a reverse auction on the Internet to provide the best market price for 1.5 billion kw.-hrs. of electricity services over three years.  Kansas House Approves English as Official Language By an overwhelming 114-7 margin, the Kansas House of Representatives voted to make English the official language of Kansas and to increase funding for English language learning. The measure now goes to the state senate and sets the Sunflower State on the path to become the 29th state to adopt an English policy.  City-Owned Water Utility Enters Public-Private Partnership The City of La Vergne, TN, has entered into a public-private partnership to provide contract operation and management of the city's water utility system for a term of three years.  LAX Begins $575.6 Million Terminal Renovation Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa was joined by airport and airline officials in a ceremony to break ground on a long- awaited major renovation of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
