GSA Awards Networx Contracts
Providing voice, IP, wireless, satellite and IP-centric services to 135 federal agencies across 191 countries, Networx Universal will transform the current federal telecommunications system to a secure, worldwide IP and MPLS-based network compliant with Internet Protocol version 6 (Ipv6) and other major technological advances anticipated throughout its contract life. The entire Networx program, to include the counterpart Networx Enterprise contract to be awarded in May, is estimated at $20 billion across 10 years.

TSA Launches Surge to Screen Airport Employees
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced the first in a series of airport employee security operations to increase layered security measures at the nation's airports. The surge operation is underway at Orlando International, Tampa International, Miami International, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International, and Luis Munoz Marin International (San Juan, PR) airports.

E-File Continues to Run at Record Pace
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that taxpayers are continuing to electronically file their tax returns at a record pace, up almost 6 percent from the same period last year.

Iowa Counties Access Land Records Online
The Iowa Land Records (CLRIS), a county land records information system operated by the Iowa County Recorders Association, announced the successful integration of an electronic document recording system with the state-wide portal that will enable submission of electronic real estate documents in all Iowa counties.

Louisville School Buses Fuel with Biodiesel
Since mid December, all the buses operated by the nation's nineteenth largest school district have been fueled with B2--a blend of 2% biodiesel, 98% diesel. With approximately 97,000 students, Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) District in Louisville, Kentucky, operates 1,100 school buses, which travel more than 85,000 miles a day. According to School Superintendent Stephen Daeschner, the district expects to "significantly reduce" exhaust emissions through the use of more than 50,000 gallons of biodiesel per year.
