Mayors Praise Block Grant to Reduce Global Warming The United States Conference of Mayors, led by President and Trenton, NJ, mayor Douglas H. Palmer, praised Congressman Albert R. Wynn (MD) for introducing legislation that will help cities and states accelerate their energy efficiency efforts to reduce greenhouse gases in communities nationwide. The measure called the Energy and Environment Block Grant Act of 2007 (H.R. 2447), would establish a new block grant program, similar to HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, that supplies formula-based grants to cities, counties, and states to help address the problem of global warming and energy dependence at the local and neighborhood level.

Electronic Manifest Filing Mandatory in MI and NY As of May 24, all truck carriers are required to electronically submit manifests detailing cargo and carrier information to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) prior to arrival at Michigan and New York land border ports.  NOAA Predicts Above Normal Hurricane Season Experts at the NOAA Climate Prediction Center are projecting a 75 percent chance that the Atlantic Hurricane Season will be above normal this year showing the ongoing active hurricane era remains strong. Green Building Summit Gathers Industry Experts The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced the agenda for the 2007 Federal Summit, an annual event that brings together leaders from throughout government and the green building industry.
