State Department Eases Passport Requirements
Due to a backlog of passport applications, the U.S. State Department modified its requirement that began earlier this year that U.S. citizens present passports when flying or taking a cruise to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda and returning to the U.S.

NYC Welcomes Emergency Communications Services
Verizon Business has begun work on implementing a new Enhanced 911 system designed to provide New York City's police, fire, and emergency medical personnel with state-of-the-art technology to help them locate and communicate with 911 callers.
TSA Ramps Up Employee Screening at Houston Airports
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced surge operations at Houston's airports that augment employee security measures at several other airports. The surge operations, launched yesterday, are underway at both George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby airports.
OIG Reports $2.9 Billion in Recoveries
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Semiannual Report to Congress reported $2.9 billion in expected recoveries for the first half of fiscal year (FY) 2007 (October 1, 2006 – March 31, 2007). OIG’s $2.9 billion in expected recoveries encompasses $1.5 billion in audit receivables and $1.4 billion in investigative receivables.
