A team of researchers has developed an automated monitoring method that makes it possible to detect traces of drugs – from cocaine to caffeine – in municipal wastewater.

ITS Corp. Wins $45 Million U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Contract
Oxnard, Calif.-based ITS Corp. (ITS) has been awarded a contract to provide information technology services to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The contract is expected to be worth up to $45 million over its five-year life.

Researchers Develop Process to Convert Poultry Litter into Bio-Oil
A team of researchers in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech is developing transportable pyrolysis units that convert poultry litter into bio-oil that can be burned as fuel at the farm. According to the researchers, the system will provide an economical disposal system for poultry waste, reduce environmental effects and mitigate biosecurity issues from litter contamination.
